CD-ROM to Accompany
"The Successful Sysops Handbook"
CD-ROM Revision 1.0
----------------------------------------
OBTAINING SOFTWARE UPDATES AND ADDITIONS
----------------------------------------
As with all software, the programs you'll find on this disc are
subject to periodic updates, bug-fixes and other revisions.
Moreover, in some cases, we were unable to secure permission to
include some programs and utilities on the CD-ROM that we otherwise
would have liked to include.
To provide a more complete resource for readers of this book, and to
aid you in finding updates or revisions when they are made
available, the author will be launching three facilities you are
welcome to use at any point during the normal lifetime of this book.
These resources are:
World Wide Web
The author's World Wide Web server will provide new and updated
files and information. If you have full Internet access, use
your web browser, and open the URL:
http://www.bryant.com/
Follow the instructions shown on the screen to visit the
appropriate sections of the web site.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
The author's FTP site is the storage location for any updated or
new files. While you should use the World Wide Web to access
these files, if you have Internet access but don't have a web
browser available, you can FTP direct to the file update
sections. The domain name of the FTP site is:
ftp.bryant.com
Displays on the site and information files posted there will
give further details on how to access the updates.
Bulletin Board System
For those without any Internet access, you can dial the author's
BBS at (303) 733-0773, where file areas will be maintained with
updates and additions. There are other file areas available
there that may be of interest as well.

USING THE FILES ON THIS DISC
----------------------------
All the files on this CD-ROM have been archived and compressed
using PKZIP. You will need the program PKUNZIP to decompress the
files and break them back out into their individual components.
Since most sysops have PKUNZIP already and know how to use it,
we've not included it alone on the disc.
If you don't happen to have PKUNZIP, the complete PKZIP/PKUNZIP
distribution is included. It's stored on the disc as:
\TOOLS\PKZ204G.EXE
To use it, create a temporary directory on your hard disk, and
change to that directory. Then, simply run the program direct from
the CD-ROM. For example, if your CD-ROM drive is disk E:, from the
temporary directory on your hard disk, you'd type:
E:\TOOLS\PKZ204G.EXE
Follow the instructions displayed on your screen. In your temporary
directory, you'll find a copy of PKUNZIP, as well as documentation
files on how to use the PKZIP/PKUNZIP system.
PKZIP and PKUNZIP are shareware. Please make sure you're a
registered user of these popular and valuable products; instructions
on how to register can be found in its documentation.
